This is a real story and has been around since last February. At that time the entire focus of the press was on McCain. See the full article in the February New York Times about McCain not being a "natural born citizen" eligible to be President. Obama was being asked the same question but there was, and still is a media black out as to Obama on this issue.

McCain in response produced all of his birth records to the Senate in April. McCain understood that to not answer this before the election would be voter fraud, and it raised the possibility of a Constitutional and National crisis should an ineligible candidate get elected. Please note that Mr. Obama was present for this. Did he stand up LAST APRIL and say, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I to have been questioned on this point. In response, Obama posted a worthless document on to such sites as factcheck, fighthesmears, etc. Many people argue that it is a forgery. But that is a red herring. It does not matter if it is real or not. Obama produced a "CERTIFICATION of Live Birth". In Hawaii that is not good enough for a passport or a drivers license. Why? Because it does not state where the person was born. That information is on the CERTIFICATE of Live Birth or the Birth Certificate.

Note at the top it says CERTIFICATE. So any Obama supporters, if you want to post a site please look at the document and if it says CERTIFICATION at the top print it and hang it next to the toilet where it may do some good.

The CERTIFCICATE of Live Birth is important because it will include the name of the hospital, the name of the doctor that delivered the child, etc. In the 1960's any Hawaiian resident could, within one year of the birth of the child, go to a hospital and register the child. Obams's half-sister was born in Indonesia and the parents registered in Hawaii and she can get a document identical to what Obama produced. Does that prove she was born in Hawaii? No, just the same the CERTIFICATION of Live Birth produced by Obama does not prove where he was born. In order to do that Obama would have to sign a release and pay $12.00.

People also say there was a birth announcement in the local paper for Obama. All birth registrations were automatically sent by the hospitals to the local papers to announce the birth registrations. It does not prove that Obama was born in Hawaii.

As to the articles that claim the State of Hawaii has stated Obama was born there are basically lies or misrepresentations. Go to the Hawaiian articles and read them. They are very carefully worded that only say the State of Hawaii has the original birth certificate in their vaults but they cannot release it. Nothing more.

There have now been 30 law suits filed around the country. Five are now at the Supreme Court. All of these suits are being dismissed on the technical grounds that a citizen does not have standing to ask a candidate this question. Alan Keyes has filed suit in Sacramento Superior Court against Obama, Biden, Debra Bowen the California Secretary of State and the 55 Democratic Electors. The suit asks the court to issue an order to deny certification of the 55 electors if Ms. Bowen does not have sufficient evidence that Obama meets the "natural born citizen" test of the Constitution. Obama may well be a "naturalized' citizen, eligible to be a State Senator, a US Senator or Governor. But until he produces the records he still has not shown that he is a "natural born citizen" eligible to hold the office of the President.

And the real question persists..."Why does he not simply file a request for the vault copy and show it to an independent party?"

1. Hawaiian law, at the time of Obama's birth, allowed for FOREIGN born (i.e. outside of Hawaii) baby's to be registered in Hawaii via a 'Certificate of Live Birth':

Obama's mother would have had to have given birth to him when she was 21 (16 + 5). She didn't. Therefore, Obama could not obtain U.S. citizenship based on his mother's citizenship.

He might be a "Naturalized" Citizen, but there is nothing in the public sector to suggest he is a 'Natural Born" Citizen, which is what the Constitution clearly requires for one to become POTUS.

Obviously, the Long Form COLB's have a whole lot more information (including the birth Hospital) that the short form Obama posted (questionable authenticity) shows. Why hasn't he posted his Long form COLB?

Obama is not a natural born citizen, as required by the constitution it requires Obama to be born on US soil to two US citizen parents. Obama Senior was never a US citizen. In Hawaii, a Certification of Live Birth is issued within a year of a child's birth to those who register a birth abroad or one that takes place outside a hospital. There's the matter that Obama traveled to Indonesia, Pakistan, Southern India and Kenya in 1981. He said he went to Indonesia to see his mother. This seemed plausible, except for the fact that his mother returned to Hawaii in August of 1980 to file for a divorce from her second husband, Lolo Soetoro. Unless she went back to pal around with the man she divorced, she wasn't there at the time of Obama's visit. There's another problem. No record of Obama holding an American passport prior to the one he received once becoming a U.S. senator has been found. If he traveled to Pakistan with an American passport, he wouldn't have been allowed in – since Pakistan was in turmoil in 1981 and under martial law. It was also on the State Department's travel ban list for U.S. citizens. If he couldn't get into Pakistan with a U.S. passport, perhaps he went there with an Indonesian passport. But the only way you can get one of those is if you are an Indonesian citizen.

Let's take this to a logical conclusion.

If Obama's citizenship is indeed not in conformance with constitutional requirements what will happen on or after January 20, 2009?

1) Will Bush stay in office?

3) Will Biden become president?

4) Will some sort of legal process that conforms to the Constitution (possibly involving a constitutional amendment) be enacted to legalize Obama's status as elected president?

Where do you conspiracy theorists want this to go? It seems to me that the McCain option -- after leaving Bush in office -- is the least likely of the above options while the Biden option is the most likely.

The Administration resists responding to the Congressional document production requests, lawsuits requesting White House visitation records and other actions they construe as intrusive because, they say, they are politically motivated.

You want to know why Obama isn't asking how high he should jump with these challenges to his citizenship? He must also see them as politically motivated. If the Supreme Court ultimately requires production of his birth certificate before he is allowed to take the oath of office then so be it. Biden was elected as Vice President. If the President-elect dies the VP-elect will be sworn in as president. If the President is removed from office -- I assume this would have to go through impeachment once Obama is sworn in -- then the VP takes the helm.

The certificate is not a "vault copy" and does not include the hospital, doctor, and time of birth. In fact, Hawaii allowed children born out of the state to file a "certificate of birth" which is likely what is in the vault.

I say likely because if Obama had been born in Hawaii, he would have told everyone what hospital, what day, what doctor and it would become a monument.

First, it's a VITAL STATISTICS form of birth certificate issued from the Hawaiian Dept. of Health and Vital Statistics. Now I don't know if you are familiar with these forms of certificate, but in most states they give just that... The VITAL information. You will note when you look at it, it gives his time of birth as 7:24 PM. You state that it does not give time of birth, it does. Second, the lower left corner has the date the original birth certificate from the hospital was recieved and filed with the state. If you notice, this date is August 8, 1961. Only 4 days after birth, which is a common amount of time.The certificates you recive from the state does not include such mundane information as hospital or dr. It states the bare minimum only. time, place, county (or island) parents names full name of child. This is not the fancier keepsake documents issued from hospitals. As to the date you can vaguely see, which looks to be something in either 2002 or 2007, that is the date the person went to the health dept. and requested the information. It has absolutley no bearing on the validity of the item. It is used purely for bookkeeping purposes. They did not create a false document. It has the seal, and in no way appears altered except for the certificate no which has been blacked out for obvious reasons. If you do not know why this was done, let me again bend your ear for a few moments and clarify. If that particular number were left for the whole world to view it could cause serious problems with anything from identity theft and worse. There is no conspiracy, no attempt to hide or manipulate information,this is just a common statistical paper only. That does not make it false. And before you go off saying I am just another Obama supporter who only wants the country to be taken over, blah ,blah, etc., etc., I voted for McCain. Well Skeptic let them think as they choose. I have no animosity towards anyone. I simply wrote to let people know that not everyone who is posting here wanted Senator Obama elected, however, that being said, I also think he is being treated unfailry by a lot of paranoid individuals who have nothing else to do. I mean come on...the person who filed one of the first lawsuits against this man has filed numerous suits for all kinds of off the wall things that make absolutely no sense. He is really an ambulance chaser of the worst kind, filing suits over and over to make his name known nationally. To what end, I do not know. Also one more quick little fact about birth certificates...... those pretty ones from the hospitals that everyone is all excited about wanting to see.....they are not considered LEGAL documents in most states. You still have to go to the Health and Statistics Dept. and request your VITAL record from whatever state you were born in. What foreign dignitaries would even begin to take seriously a country that cannot even stop fighting amongst themselves? ThosPayne- I believe you have truly gotten to the heart of the matter. Who cares that this is a well educated man, intelligent by any measure of standards, it all boils down to color in the end. Not too many generations ago, they were considered lesser humans, how I don't know or cannot even begin to comprehend. I am from a more foreward generation, and really color played no part in who I chose to associate with. My children and most of the new voters these days, are so far removed from their forefathers biased thinking, they truly don't see color as a barrier to ANYTHING. I asked my kids what they thought of this whole controversey, and everyone of them including my non voting age child, said it's dissappointing that there is such drama over all of it. I agree.

What really strikes me as IDIOTIC about this ridiculous claim (that Barack Obama is not a US citizen).........is how dumb Hillary Clinton must be, since her staff of investigators failed to uncover any false birth certification when these rumors first surfaced in 2007. If anyone had a chance to stop the Barack juggernaut, it was the Clintons (who practice some of the dirtiest politics in the democratic party). Therefore, if there was ANY possibility this was true, Hillary Clinton would have proved this theory BEFORE the primaries.

Does knowing on what race you came from has to be the issue? Some people just have too much time on their hands which is how someone came up with this Obama witch doctor business. A bunch of conservative activists from the northern Midwest, specifically from Brighton, Michigan were so bored that they have started calling President Obama a witch doctor. Glenn Beck probably loves it, but then again, Beck tends to love all kinds of stupid and racist things, and tends to hate just about anything that does anyone any good.
