Leadership Rocklin Recruiting Community Leaders Of Tomorrow
Posted by: HalldinPR
Leadership Rocklin allows graduates to grow from community members to community leaders.

The Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for individuals ready to become the next leaders of the community. The Chamber is now accepting application for its 2008-2009 Leadership Rocklin class.

Since its establishment in 2003, Leadership Rocklin has produced many graduates who have emerged as leaders in the community. Through the program, they have been given the skills to give back to the community by holding leadership positions.

“Our classes have been tremendously successful,” said Robin Trimble, chief executive officer of the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce. “We believe our program really prepares people in our community for the important task of becoming responsible leaders. Leadership Rocklin is a great training ground for anyone who wants to become more involved in their community.”

The training curriculum will include the history of Rocklin as well as presentations by city and county leaders addressing important issues, including education, volunteerism, public safety, transportation, regional issues and economic development.

“The Leadership program was an excellent opportunity to become immediately involved in the community and be trained for a leadership role in the future,” said Farnum Smith, athletic director at William Jessup University in Rocklin, who was a graduate of the 2005-2006 class. “I now have the knowledge and awareness I need to give back to Rocklin.”

Selected individuals will participate in a Leadership class every third Thursday of the month, starting Sept. 18. The sessions run from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., with a continental breakfast and lunch provided. The program lasts 10 months, and graduation is June 2009.

To be eligible, applicants must live or work in the city of Rocklin. They do not have to be a member of the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce. Participants will be interviewed as part of the selection process. Class size is limited.

The tuition fee is $475 for members and $525 for non-members, which includes a $50 refundable fee upon application submittal. Applications must be received by July 25.

For an application form or additional information, please visit the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce at 3700 Rocklin Road or call 624-2548.
